VOGUE X MOHAIR&ANGORA
The guest of Vogue Türkiye's November 2022 issue was Mohair&Angora.
Mohair, one of the oldest and most valuable threads in the world, comes to life again in its homeland with Anatolian heritage and modern designs with "Mohair&Angora".
Mohair, now known as mohair in many countries and considered a luxurious, special fiber for centuries, actually spread worldwide from Ankara. The product of the Ankara goat, known globally as the "Angora Goat," with its long, fine, curly, and silky, lustrous coat, is known in Turkey as Ankara mohair. Also known as the "diamond yarn" for its warmth, durability, and, most importantly, luster, mohair is also known as the "sultan of yarns" because it is a rare fiber used in the attire of sultans, kings, and queens throughout history.
Although there are different stories about how and when it came to be, the generally accepted view is that the Ankara goat acquired its known characteristics in the Central Anatolian plateau, especially in the region known as Angora at the time and Ankara today, and therefore the homeland of the mohair is Ankara.
Mohair&Angora immortalizes the legendary qualities of mohair by combining them with special designs that reflect the unique texture of Anatolia. Interpreting tradition with a modern style, the brand also creates a special gift collection that reflects our cultural heritage. Each piece is presented in the brand's own custom-designed gift box, telling the fascinating story of Ankara mohair. The collection includes accessories such as knits, scarves, shawls, ties, and stoles designed with mohair. Both the women's and men's collections feature timeless, universal pieces.
Mohair Angora's founding purpose was to reintroduce mohair, which has begun to disappear, to its very homeland as a global brand. Their primary goal is to promote this beautiful heritage to the entire world. Domestically, the brand's products are available at the Sheraton Ankara flagship store and at airport duty-free shops.
